PMP exam has 200 questions and there are four hours to answer them. The PMP examination questions could be very complicated and difficult to understand in the first aspect. The review questions are presented in different flavors. Some of them could be directly related to the processes, areas of knowledge and ITTOs groups. Another may be related to the formulas.There may be several situational questions as well. Unless you follow a methodical approach to understand and respond to these questions, there is a good chance that are missing some of them even if you know the answer. Follow these steps to analyze and understand the PMP exam questions and answer them correctly.
Step 1: Read the question completely
Read first the question completely. PMP exam questions could really be prolix and confused to read for the first time. Therefore, not only browse through them. Read each statement carefully.
Step 2: Understand the question
I understand the question. After reading the question, see the question of what trafficking. Even if the issue is long, at the end can be simple and limited to a very specific topic. Many times the PMP examination questions contain additional information that really adds nothing to the issue. Remove first and focus on the statements that are really matter to answer the question.
Step 3: Limit the scope of the issue
Isolate the issue to an area of group or knowledge of particular process in the PMBOK Guide. This will help you better choose the answer. Most of the questions in the PMP Exam tends to be related to an area of unique knowledge.
Step 4: Read everyone responds to read all the answers.
Even if you think that the first response you see is correct, they stop there. Reading each response provided it is extremely important. Some questions can have multiple answers which could potentially be correct. Then you have to choose the most correct answer.
Choose the correct answer if the question is simple and does not participate any calculation or situation. Many questions in the PMP Exam are situational or involve computing. More measures are needed to respond to them.
Step 5: Remove incorrect answers
Begin the process of elimination of situational questions. First to discard them answers knows for sure are not correct. Among the possible responses you have to choose the best. The PMP examination questions sometimes especially used qualifiers as the first, then more and so on. Pay special attention to these words in the questions. They decide what is the best answer.
Step 6: Use the correct formula
Choose the right formula to be used, if the question relates to the formulas. In question, find the values for different variables in the formula. Calculate the value requested in the question and select the correct answer.
Step 7: Do not leave questions unanswered
Do not leave questions unanswered in the PMP exam. Even after reading and analyzing the question, if you don't know the correct answer, use your best guests and respond to it. There is no marker negative in PMP exam. Thus, there is nothing to lose if it responds.
Other things to keep in mind...
Do not spend too much time to answer a single question. If you don't know the answer, mark it for review and move to the next question.
If you are uncomfortable with the first few questions does not feel discouraged. You will be fine, even if it gets wrong questions first.
Not take breaks only because the format of the exam allows it. Taking unnecessary jumps not only losing time but also the momentum. However, do not hesitate to take a break if it is really necessary.
