PMP changes review on August 31, 2011

Every five or seven years, the Project Management Institute (PMI) performed a role delineation study to determine the Authority (the "role"), responsibilities & duties of project coordinators today. Findings, are then used to update the (PMP) project management professional exam. Thus, PMI ensures that the PMP exam is a reflection of what project managers do in the field. If PMI does not go regularly through this process of adding new elements and removing old, then could still be tried in obsolete methods used in the 1980s when became the first PMP exam. PMI completed its last survey at the end of 2010. The findings will lead to an update in the PMP exam on August 31, 2011. Let's take a look at what this means for you.

* The PMBOK Guide is not changing

Firstly and most importantly: there is no change in the PMBOK Guide. The PMP exam is currently based in the PMBOK Guide Fourth Edition. The 5th Edition is scheduled for publication at the end of 2012. This means that the PMP exam will continue to be based mainly on the Fourth Edition until sometime in 2013. Therefore, everyone prepares to review PMP can continue to do so using the PMBOK Guide Fourth Edition until 2013.

The examination format is not changing

The PMP exam will continue to be a computer-based exam, and has four hours to respond to 200 multiple choice questions.

Score report is not to change

PMI said "At this time, PMI does not anticipate that the changes will be made to PMP score report". This suggests that the way that determines the score for step will remain the same.

* Eligibility requirements unchanged

Eligibility requirements for education and experience for the PMP exam will be the same. Please read the section of eligibility of the PMP credential manual for details.

* Changes for review on August 31, 2011. Period.

The re-examination shall be extended on August 31, 2011 and on the last day in which the test may be performed according to the current specifications is on August 30, 2011. There are no exceptions.

* Professional & Social responsibility will be integrated

In the current format of the professional review and Social responsibility, it is tested as a different domain. The role delineation study showed that professional and Social responsibility is integrated in the work of project management and can not be seen as an independent. The code of ethics and professional conduct, therefore, must be seen and tested as an integral part of the daily work of the project manager. For the new examination, students will have to understand the effects of Social responsibility and professional in their daily tasks. The examination questions will ask you about the ethical considerations in procurement, mixture of social responsibility with the administration of equipment and test the application of professional responsibility in a written report. Explore, understand and live the code of ethics and professional conduct in their daily work as a project manager will be much higher for consideration importance.

Their study materials content will change

PMI has reported detailed changes for the new examination to all registered providers (R.E.P.s) education. It is your responsibility to ensure that it updates the content of its training materials. As a student, you should not worry about this. You are entitled to expect that your provider ensures that your training materials have content suitable for the examination which takes.

* Recommendations for students PMP

(1) It will take the test before the change:
If they are currently studying for the PMP exam, plan their studies in such a way that you can take the exam before July 31, 2011. The new review will enter into force on August 31, 2011 and scheduling its consideration one month before that date will be given 30 days to retake the examination in case of failing in his first attempt.
